From nature to industry

Ultrasounds have existed in nature since the dawn of time. Bats use them in order to orient themselves and move around. Through emission of exceedingly brief ultrasound impulses (less than 1/1000s!) at a frequency of 50,000 hertz, they are able to locate not only obstacles, but also the insects from which they draw their sustenance.

Dolphins and blue whales are likewise able to orient themselves with the help of acoustic signals. They use a frequency of 170,000, and it is audible to their inner ear alone.


At the outset of the 1960s, transformation of synthetic materials began to skyrocket. And in assembly of synthetic components, the ultrasonic welder plays a predominant role.
